Terry Cloth

Definition

A woven or knit fabric with uncut loops on one or both sides, originally developed for towelling. In apparel, terry cloth (250-400 gsm) is used for robes, poolside wear, and retro-inspired fashion pieces. It is distinct from French terry, which is a knit with loops on only the interior — terry cloth has loops on the exterior face, giving it a more textured, absorbent surface.
