Viscose
Definition
A semi-synthetic fibre made from wood pulp (usually bamboo or beech) dissolved in chemicals to create a cellulose solution that is extruded into filaments. Viscose has a beautiful drape and silk-like lustre at a fraction of silk's cost. It is widely used in dresses, blouses, and linings. However, conventional viscose production is chemically intensive — brands seeking greener alternatives should consider lyocell or modal.
