SKU

Definition

Stock Keeping Unit — a unique alphanumeric code assigned to each distinct product variant (combination of style, colour, and size). A single hoodie design in 3 colours and 5 sizes generates 15 SKUs. SKU counts matter in manufacturing because they determine labelling complexity, inventory management, and packing requirements. More SKUs means more changeovers and higher operational overhead.
