Appliqué

Definition

A decoration technique where a piece of fabric is cut to shape and sewn or bonded onto a garment to create a design. Appliqué can be combined with embroidery (satin-stitch borders are common) for a layered, premium look. It is particularly effective for large logos where full embroidery would be too dense and heavy. Varsity-style lettering and patches are classic appliqué applications.
