Blind Hem

Definition

A hemming technique where the stitch is virtually invisible from the garment's face, achieved by catching only a few threads of the outer fabric with each stitch. Blind hems are standard on dress trousers, skirts, and formalwear where visible topstitching would detract from the clean finish. The technique requires a specialised blind-hem machine or skilled hand-finishing.
