Flatlock
Definition
A seam construction where two fabric edges are butted together and joined with a flat, wide stitch that lies completely smooth against the skin. Flatlock seams eliminate bulk and reduce chafing, making them the preferred construction for activewear, underwear, and babywear. The seam is created by spreading open an overlock stitch, producing a distinctive ladder pattern on the face.
