Sample Development

Definition

The iterative process of creating prototype garments to refine design, fit, fabric, and construction before committing to bulk production. A typical development cycle includes a concept sample, fit sample, and pre-production sample — each round incorporating feedback and corrections. Sample development is where most manufacturing problems are caught and solved, saving significant cost and time versus fixing issues in bulk.
