Why Portugal

Why manufacture jackets in Portugal

Outerwear expertise

Portugal's northern textile corridor specialises in heavyweight garments. Our sewers work daily with canvas, sherpa, and multi-layer constructions that require industrial walking-foot machines and reinforced stitching.

Hardware sourcing in-house

YKK zippers, metal snap buttons, rivets, D-rings, and custom-engraved pulls — all sourced and installed in our factory. No outsourcing of critical jacket components.

Low MOQ for outerwear

Most European jacket manufacturers require 200–500 units. We start at 50 units per style and colour — test a capsule collection without overcommitting on a complex, high-cost garment.

EU certifications as standard

OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified fabrics, organic cotton options (GOTS), and full EU workplace compliance. Certifications included, not charged as extras.

Short lead times

4–6 weeks production, 2–5 days shipping within Europe. Compared to 90–120 days from Asia, you can react to seasonal demand and reorder mid-season.

Factory-direct pricing

No agents, no intermediaries. You deal directly with the people cutting, sewing, and finishing your jackets. Transparent, itemised quotes with no hidden costs.

Process

From design to delivery

01

Design & Quote

Send your tech pack, reference jacket, or sketches. We evaluate construction complexity, fabric requirements, and hardware needs. Detailed itemised quote within 48 hours — shell fabric, lining, hardware, decoration, and assembly all broken down.

02

Sampling

We produce your first jacket sample in 10–14 working days. Outerwear sampling takes slightly longer than cut-and-sew basics due to lining, hardware, and construction details. Most brands finalise in 1–2 rounds. Sample cost is credited against your first bulk order.

03

Pre-Production Approval

Before bulk production, you approve a pre-production sample using your actual production fabric, hardware, and trims. This is the exact garment every unit in your order will replicate — fit, weight, lining, zipper pull, everything.

04

Production & QC

Cutting, sewing, lining insertion, hardware installation, finishing, decoration, and individual quality control — all in our Barcelos factory. Every jacket is checked for symmetry, hardware function, seam integrity, and lining alignment. Production runs 4–6 weeks.

05

Delivery

Finished jackets are individually poly-bagged, boxed, and shipped direct to your warehouse or fulfilment centre. EU delivery in 2–5 days. We handle customs documentation and can ship DDP worldwide.

FAQ

Common questions

What jacket styles do you produce?

We manufacture canvas chore coats, sherpa-lined jackets, varsity bombers, zip-up fleece jackets, washed designer jackets, and overshirt-weight outerwear. Our current catalog includes 4 jacket styles ranging from 280 GSM plush fleece to 680 GSM heavyweight brushed cotton. We also develop custom silhouettes from your tech pack or reference garment.

Can you do sherpa lining on jackets?

Yes. Sherpa lining is one of our specialities. We use 100% cotton sherpa at approximately 400 GSM for a dense, soft pile that holds warmth without synthetic feel. Sherpa can be applied as a full body lining, hood lining only, or collar-and-yoke lining. We also offer brushed fleece and quilted cotton linings as alternatives.

What fabrics do you use for outerwear?

Our outerwear range uses cotton canvas (220–480 GSM) for structured chore coats and workwear jackets, brushed fleece (260–580 GSM) for zip-ups and layering pieces, cotton sherpa (400 GSM) for lined jackets, and cotton twill (220–340 GSM) for lighter coach jackets and bombers. All fabrics are available in 100% organic cotton with OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certification.

Can you customise varsity jackets?

Yes. We produce fully custom varsity jackets with wool-blend bodies, cotton twill or canvas sleeves, and chenille or embroidered patches. Customisation includes snap-button fronts, ribbed cuffs and hem, satin or quilted linings, and custom colour blocking. Chenille lettering and 3D puff embroidery are our most popular decoration techniques for varsity styles.

Do you offer waterproofing or DWR finishes?

We offer DWR (Durable Water Repellent) finishes on cotton canvas and twill jackets. This is a fluorine-free treatment applied during finishing that causes water to bead and roll off the fabric surface. It is not waterproof membrane-level protection, but provides rain resistance suitable for casual outerwear. The DWR treatment withstands 15–20 washes before reapplication is needed.

What hardware options are available for jackets?

We source and install YKK zippers (metal, coil, and vislon), metal snap buttons (brass, gunmetal, matte black), rivets for reinforcement at stress points, D-rings, adjustable side tabs, and custom-engraved hardware. All metal hardware can be colour-matched to your brand palette. We also offer custom zipper pulls with logo engraving.

How are your jackets constructed for cold weather?

Our cold-weather construction includes fully lined bodies (sherpa, brushed fleece, or quilted cotton), wind-blocking interlinings on canvas and twill shells, ribbed or elasticated cuffs for heat retention, storm flaps over zippers, adjustable drawcord hems, and interior chest pockets. We can add insulation layers up to 580 GSM total garment weight without compromising fit or mobility.

What is the minimum order for custom jackets?

Our minimum order for jackets is 50 units per style and colour. For complex styles with multiple colourways or extensive hardware, we recommend starting at 75 units to optimise cost per unit. Sampling is available in single units — we produce a physical sample for your approval before any bulk commitment.
