Factories say yes to a tech pack, not to an idea.

What arrives is not a one-page form with empty boxes. Each pack runs 16 pages and is written for its own silhouette: the hoodie pack specifies hood height, drawcord channel, eyelet spacing and kangaroo pocket geometry; the polo pack specifies placket length, button spacing and collar height. They were drawn inside White Cotton, a garment factory in Barcelos, Portugal, that manufactures these same garments.

A tech pack is the document a factory manufactures from. It carries the flat drawings, the points of measure with tolerances, a graded size specification, the fabric and trim specification, construction details, colourways and artwork placement. A factory quotes from it, cuts from it, and inspects the finished garment against it.

Without one, every decision the document does not make gets made on the factory floor by someone who has never met your brand — sleeve length, rib height, how far the pocket sits from the hem. Those are not mistakes; they are guesses, and each one comes back as a sample round. A tech pack is not paperwork you produce to look professional. It is the part of the garment you design in words instead of cloth.

Every pack runs 16 pages in a fixed order, so a factory reading its second one already knows where to look.

Behind a marked divider each pack also carries a reference catalogue — stitch and seam options, ribbing, cuffs and hems, necklines, washes and finishes, 31 printing and decoration methods, and trims. It is there for you to choose from, and to delete before the pack goes to a factory.

Tolerance ±2 cm on every row. Width is measured across the garment 2 cm below the armholes, laid flat; length from the highest point of shoulder straight down. Measurements in this pack are drafted from published industry sizing (EN 13402-3 body girths; Craft Yarn Council body lengths) with standard ease for the stated fit class. They are a production-ready standard block, not White Cotton house measurements. Confirm the graded spec against your own fit sample before bulk production.

Because a factory prices risk, not just cloth and minutes. An email describing a hoodie is a quote with guesswork priced into it. A complete pack is the same quote with the guesswork removed — and the number, the lead time and the patience you get back all move with it.

Most brands believe the relationship is won in how they write the first email. It is won in what they attach. A factory that opens a graded chart with tolerances on it learns three things in four seconds: this person knows what they are asking for, the sample will not need five rounds, and the order is likely to actually happen. That brand gets the experienced merchandiser, gets asked real questions instead of vague ones, and gets told early when something will not sew — because the factory can see what right was supposed to look like.

The reverse is just as mechanical. An incomplete pack puts the factory in the position of deciding your garment for you, and a factory deciding conservatively is a factory adding margin for the revisions it expects. This is the difference between brands that most of them never see: not the tone of the email, not the size of the order — the quality of the document that arrives with it.

Every pack ships as a vector PDF and an .ai file, fully editable in Illustrator, Affinity Designer or CorelDRAW. Nothing is flattened, locked or password-protected. Text is text, lines are lines, and the flats are drawn as paths you can pull apart.

Canva will open the PDF, but it treats the drawing as an image — you can write on top of it and you cannot move a seam. That is usually enough to fill in a brand name and not enough to change a silhouette. If you only need the fields filled, the builder below does it for you and returns the same vector file, so nothing is lost on the way.

One pack per silhouette — 13 of them, each a separate document rather than one template with a different drawing on the front. Points of measure differ because the garments do: a hoodie is specified down to its hood, a polo down to its placket.

You do not have to fill it in yourself. The builder does it in about five minutes, for a garment that does not exist yet. You pick the silhouette, the fit, the cloth and the colours, place your logo on the drawing, and watch the document build itself as you go.

What comes back is the same pack with the work already done: the graded measurement chart written in, the grading rules between sizes, the tolerances, the Pantone references, your colourways named, your artwork measured from the seams.
